Hafiz Yatim

Abdul Hafiz bin Mohammad Yatim, was born in Singapore but later moved to Johor Bahru, Johor in 1977. His father was a court interpreter at the Singapore High Court.He had his early education in Singapore, Johor Bahru and then upper secondary in Seremban. He graduated with a degree in Political Science from the Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, Vancouver, Canada.Upon returning he taught Malaysian studies and American Politics at Maktab Sains Mara before moving to journalism.

In 1994, he joined the New Straits Times as a cadet graduate journalist. In 1995, he worked at NST Malacca covering all areas  from general news, crime, court, and sports He returned to Kuala Lumpur NST where upon his return he mostly covered courts. In Feb 2008 he left NST and had a short stint with Limkokwing University of Creative Technology.

On Oct 2008, he joined Malaysiakini where he covered mostly court cases from the Anwar Ibrahim sodomy II trial, the Perak constitutional crisis, the Herald Catholic Weekly, the M Indira Gandhi proceedings, the Cameron Highlands and Rantau election petition, the Altantuya murder trials and Metramac among others.
